Growing up I have always been surrounded by nature and all it
has to offer. California is known for its beautiful scenery and its nice
climate, all the nature that I have received has been through what California
has offered me. Nature to me means the sound of the waves crashing against the
rocks and an ocean shell pressed against my ear; hearing the ocean’s
roars. Looking directly above my head, to see the clouds uniformly scavenge the
skies as the sun burns into the center of my eyes. Beneath me I feel the soft
warm sand run through my fingers onto my feet. Nature has always been a
wonderful concept in my head as a child and the beach has offered protection to
my eyes. In the contrary, that never stopped me from witnessing and living through the
“realistic”side of nature.
This other side of nature is not meant to be feared
but embraced; it’s not meant to discourage but to strengthen your morals. This
side of nature is called Humanity. Humans are strange creatures that found their
way up the social pyramid to become the strongest predatorial creatures of this land.
Humans have adjusted to nature and thus damaged it by thinking they
understand nature and everything it offers. Nature in a sense created humans,
providing habitats and resources to reach the peak of the
mountain until they have gotten everything that was offered. That side of
humanity has created trouble in the world we live today;
that instinct to survive was embedded in human minds. That
instinct has brought upon wars, death, destruction, and sorrow which has showed
me the other side of nature.
Whether I’m standing in the beach with an ocean
breeze or filled with fear in the streets of California, nature is something
beyond human comprehension.
